The Snowmass Village off-season empties the resort cores and leaves the small Snowmass Center at 16 Kearns Road running. On the Fall 2026 seasonal closures list from Snowmass Tourism, almost every restaurant in Base Village and most on the Mall go dark for weeks. Every business it lists at Snowmass Center is marked "open all season."
By the last days of October, the closures are mostly done. Gorsuch Ski Cafe shut on Oct. 24 and the Après Deck at Viewline on Oct. 25. Rock Island Oyster Bar & Grill and The Lounge at the Limelight closed the week before. What's left for the next three weeks is a short, specific list, and most of it sits at one address.
What stays open at Snowmass Center
Snowmass Center covers the errands of an ordinary week, which is why it gets through the slow season. The Fall 2026 list marks six businesses there as open all season:
- The Daly Diner, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Its own website lists breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. and lunch and dinner from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and warns that off-season hours may vary.
- Taster's, open all season except Thanksgiving Day.
- Clark's Groceries, the village's grocery store.
- Ajax Supply, the hardware, tools, paint and household-supply shop.
- Sundance Liquor & Gifts.
- The Snowmass Dispensary, which describes itself as a locally owned recreational dispensary.
The Snowmass Center tenant directory also lists Cleaner Express, Slopeside Sewing, Snowmass Chiropractic and a USPS post office, along with a number of professional offices. USPS lists the Snowmass Village Post Office at 16 Kearns Road. Retail hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays, and it's closed Sundays. Groceries, hardware, mail, dry cleaning and a diner serving three meals a day all share one parking lot for the whole off-season.
The short list still open on the Mall and in Base Village
The Mall doesn't go completely dark. Two restaurants there, The Tavern and Zane's Tavern, are listed as open through the fall. On the retail side, Challenge Aspen, Daly Bottle & Grain Fine Food and Guapodog stay open all season, and Christy Sports stays open on reduced hours.
Base Village has a smaller list still. Eye Pieces of Snowmass stays open all season, though it may cut hours. The Viceroy's three restaurants are the exception to the September pattern. Toro, Lift Line and Cafe V all run until Nov. 1 and reopen on Nov. 23, a break of about three weeks. Aurum Food & Wine, a few steps away, closed Oct. 3 and won't be back until Nov. 26, so its break runs closer to eight weeks.
That makes the weekend of Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 the last one with a full-service Base Village dining room open until the week before the lifts start. Snowmass Tourism adds that off-season businesses often close on Mondays and Tuesdays and that hours can shift as reopening dates get close. A quick call before heading out saves a wasted trip.
Eighteen quiet days, then everything at once
Once the Viceroy closes on Nov. 1, none of the listed restaurants in the two resort cores has a firm reopening date until Nov. 20. Rock Island and JUS Snowmass are listed only as "mid-November," and Alux Spalon takes the shortest break on the list, Nov. 2 through Nov. 9. For those eighteen days, Snowmass Center and the few Mall holdouts are where the village runs.
Then most of the Mall and Base Village come back within eight days:
| Date | Reopening |
|---|---|
| Nov. 20 | Grub Thai, Smash & Dash Burger, Kenichi Snowmass |
| Nov. 21 | Gorsuch Ski Cafe |
| Nov. 23 | Après Deck, Toro, Lift Line, Cafe V, One Vibe, Snowmass T-Shirt Co, Snowmass Trading Company |
| Nov. 25 | The Lounge at the Limelight, Four Mountain Sports Mall Shop and Pavilion |
| Nov. 26 | Aurum Food & Wine, The Stew Pot, New Belgium Ranger Station, Base Camp Bar and Grille, Crepe Therapy Cafe, Snowmass Sports, Incline Sports, Four Mountain Sports and Four Mountain Kids in Base Village |
| Nov. 27 | Venga Venga, Sunglass Panache |
| Dec. 7 | Ro + Fern |
Some names have no reopening date on the list yet, including Il Poggio, Heather's at the Stonebridge Inn, Snacfood and Snowmass Lanes. Montevino, Slope & Hatch at The Collective and Sundae Ice Cream have closing dates but no listed return.
Opening day lands on Thanksgiving
Aspen Snowmass has set Snowmass opening day for Nov. 26, 2026, which is also Thanksgiving. The busiest reopening day on the calendar is also the one day Taster's, open the rest of the off-season, is closed. So the holiday week runs backward. The resort cores fill up just as one of the Center's two restaurants takes its only day off.
Some of what comes back this winter is new. According to Snowmass Tourism's winter 2026/27 announcement, Ullrhof reopens after a full rebuild as Aspen Snowmass's first all-electric on-mountain restaurant. It's twice its former size and seats more than 600. The same release says the 93-room Stonebridge Inn is set to reopen in December after a $15.7 million renovation, and that Timberline Condominiums finished the last phase of a $25 million, multi-year renovation in time for this season. The Collective Snowmass is adding winter programs: Collective Conversations, Community Lunch & Learn workshops, wellness sessions, a Sunday Social Club, and Toddler Time on Sundays from 9 a.m. to noon.
Getting around in the last weeks of roundabout work
The Town has spent the season building a new roundabout where Brush Creek Road meets Owl Creek Road. The Town of Snowmass Village's Sept. 9 construction notice said Owl Creek Road would stay closed to through traffic between Brush Creek Road and Chapel Curve until about Oct. 19, with Highline Road as the detour. It also said the lanes of Brush Creek Road just above and below the work zone would shift west, and that the roundabout was on schedule to finish Nov. 15. If that date holds, the roundabout opens a few days before the first restaurants come back on Nov. 20.
Buses are on their off-season schedule too. RFTA's fall service runs through Nov. 22 with reduced local schedules. The Town's free Village Shuttle runs eight routes around the village, leaving from the shuttle terminal just below the Mall on Daly Lane.
The center the Town has already planned to grow
The Town has already planned to expand the place that carries the village through the off-season. In January 2025, as The Aspen Times reported, the Town Council unanimously approved a Snowmass Center redevelopment design. The plan grows the Center's footprint by 24%, enlarges Clark's Market and doubles the size of the post office. The approval also cleared the way for the Town's planned purchase of more than three acres behind the Center for workforce housing. The Snowmass Center website still calls the project a long-term redevelopment plan and invites sign-ups for updates. For this November, the Center is the same as before: the diner, the grocery store, the hardware shop and the post office.
